How I took back my own content and am profiting from it.

I love social media. The connections, the fun. And there’s a big bonus in that I don’t ever have to physically talk to anyone. I can just be in my zone and enjoy myself when I feel like it.

Which I used to. All the time. I would pop on to various networks drop some likes and some comments, throw up a few posts and get on with my day. Sometimes I would miniblog — which I actually liked a lot. I have some amazing friends and love my community always.

But over the years, I got sick of the idea that Facebook was making a shit ton of money off of my freely offered content meant for my friends but, still. Many would say that this is the price of using the platform and I’m, for sure, getting that. But I feel like if you’re the type of person who is generating good content regularly, if you might be instrumental in making other folks’ experience more enjoyable (so they stay on the site longer and they see more of your ads), why am I not a partner in the profits, even if just in a modest way?

I was looking at YouTube the other day. YouTube is the lion of our current social media platforms, offering amazing content that is growing all the time. The model over there is creators get paid. Hmmmmm. So where were my options for getting paid on a miniblog style…
